(1966) That Girl "Phantom of the Horse Opera"
Dir:John Erman Wri: Peggy Elliott, Ed Scharlach. Episode 14, Season one. Original Air Date - December 8, 1966

Review by Haunted Music:
Donald tried to help Ann's eccentric neighbor by writing a human-interest story about him. When the story is published, though, the neighbor disappears.
In the middle of the night, Anne Marie wakes up in the middle of the night because of the loud, mysterious, organ music playing somewhere in her apartment building (Shutting out the music). The music constantly plays throughout the day, and Anne Marie tries to use it as a clue during charades when her subject happened to be: "The Phantom of the Opera." Everyone is startled by the organ music and aren't quite exactly sure where it's coming from.
Anne Marie and her boyfriend decide to try to find the person playing the music. One night, after the party where they played the charades, they follow the music to apartment 15. After the boyfriend knocks on the door, the music stops and the door opens. An older gentlemen named Mr. Valentine greets them and asks them inside after they explain they are neighbors. He explains that he used to work in silent movies, providing music during the film. But once sound took over, he was out of a job. Lon Chaney and The Phantom of the Opera were mentioned. The film being one of his favorite films.
After meeting the man, Anne Marie didn't have the heart to ask him to stop, seeing as that was all he had left. She decides to help find him a job instead, so he will play there instead of at the apartments all the time. Donald, her boyfriend, comes up with the idea of writing an article about him to help get him a job. Once the article gets printed, Anne Marie buys a couple of copies and dashes off to the Mr. Valentine's apartment.
However, he never answers to her knocks, but the door was left unlocked so she let herself in. The apartment is empty except for a box and small pieces of trash in the room. She walks to the box and finds a copy of the newspaper she was bringing him.
The two later learn that he is wanted in several states. In one state, he was wanted for stealing the very organ he played all the time in his room. He also stole many of the silent film trinkets he kept in his room. Not only did Mr. Valentine steal items, he stole the hearts of women too. He has several wives, all from different states. But luckily, in the end, he finds a job.... at the prison.
---This movie is more of a mention than an actually adaptation. Very little of the story is similiar and the only things that were alike were the organist that was a criminal, the mysterious organ music in the beginning, and the mentioning of Phantom of the Opera during the charades game.
