This is the sequel to Maxu Weibang 1937 classic, Midnight Song. To my knowledge, none of the original cast is included.

The story takes place right where Midnight Song 1 left off. Danping has escaped the mob, and his face has been operated on by a mad scientist. This is why he now looks like a skeletal ape man in the picture above and below. Ape like as his face may be, its hard not to also see Chanys Erik in that amazing photo. Later on in the film, Li Xiaoxia becomes blind, and so never finds out that her long lost lover is disfigured when they are finally reunited. Li Xiaoxie dies, and Danping ultimately kills himself so that he can be with her in death.
