WARNING!: As always, this page may be extremely spoiler heavy... If you didn't want to know, then don't blame me that you looked!

I struggled for a long time wondering if I should make this section, or if I should just lump these little nuggets of joy in with the TV Phantoms, or the regular Phantom films. But in fact, two of these where made before there was television, and the others where not truly intended for tv. There are certainly other animated Phantoms, from both TV and of course the 1987 animated movie. Check out the TV Phantoms section and The Feature Films section for information on those animated Phantoms.

movie (1933) Tom and Jerry: The Magic Mummy

Dir: John Foster, George Stallings. (Van Beuren's Tom and Jerry)

This is not the famous Cat and Mouse Tom and Jerry. The cartoon is about a dead, bird like Phantom, who resurrects a female mummy to sing for him. I am not completely sure if any Phantom connection was actually intended here, but it seems likely enough. Still, this may end up in The Maybe File at some point. We shall see.

Where to Buy: I'm fairly certain this has been available on a number of different animation compilation DVD's. The one I have was called Tom and Jerry and Friends, 2 Hours of Cartoons from Cartoon Classics. I know this is sometimes available at Amazon.com, but I haven't seen it there in awhile. For now, just keep checking E-Bay.com. I'll keep you guys posted if I find another DVD's that this thing has appeared on.

*Special Thanks to Nightcat for this entry!

movie (1938) Have You Got Any Castles?

Dir: Frank Tashlin Wri: Jack Miller

Wonderful cartoon about book characters coming to life in a book store at night when the store is closed. The Phantom appearance is at the very beginning of the cartoon, when Mr. Hyde, Fu Man Chu, Erik and Frankenstein come out of their respective books and do a little dance for us. The most wonderful thing for Leroux fans in this one, is how incredible accurate this depiction of Erik is!

Where to Buy: I'm happy to say that this is now available on the Loony Tunes - Golden Collection, Volume Two. Grab your copy at Amazon.com

(1961) Woody Woodpecker '-Phantom of The Horse Opera'

Dir: Paul J. Smith

Apparently this Phantomy Woody Woodpecker cartoon, was severed as a short with the 1962 Herbert Lom version when it was first released. Unfortunately no one I've ever spoken with has seen this, and I've never seen pictures.

(2003) O Fantasma da Ópera

Dir and Animated: Ale McHaddo Produced by: 44 BICO LARGO FILMES Running Time: 5 to 6 Minuets.

Little is known about this cartoon from Brazil, but it looks pretty interesting. (Kind of reminds me of the animation from the old Beetlejuice cartoon.) I wonder if it was a pilot for something that would have ended up being a series? Anyone know?

You can watch this video by clicking this link: http://portacurtas.uol.com.br/Filme.asp?Cod=1905#

Very cute, but extremely strange. The Phantom hears the voice of Christine from down below, and immediately starts trying to find ways to killer. His reasons? Well I'm still not totally sure, but at the end of the cartoon, we see our Phantom dressed up in drag, as though he has taken the diva's place. Apparently the star of the show is him, or no one.

stuff (2005) La Ópera del Fantasma

Dir: Héctor Cortés & Sergio Espinoxa Wri: Salvador López Martínez & Paola Patiño 3 minuets.

From the very, very little that I've read about this little claymation movie, it seems that it may have very to do with our Phantom. Instead, this Phantom, really is a real ghost, (I'm thinking a little like Casper?) who tries to help people. He does still live in an opera house though!

The project its self sounds really interesting. From what I am able to discern from the web page, this was made by La Matatena Asociación de Cine para Niñas y Niños, A.C. who are of a few adults and a little army of very talented school kids. I think that at one time you could actually view the movie right on the site, but for some reason now I am having trouble finding that specific page. There is a lot of information to be found on the movie by following this link, including pictures of the kids making the film!:

http://www.lamatatena.org/es/videoteca/las-animaciones/la-opera-del-fantasma.html

Pretty cool site, and I really love that this was made by kids. Check out the site when you can!

More info can be found at: IMDB

Where to Buy: I'm fairly certain that this has no video or DVDs release, unless it was released as part of a compilation. No information on where to obtain it at this time.
